InActSys Inc. began in October, 1987,
to fill a need when McDonnell Douglas no longer supplied customer support or
training classes in the Texas area. Customer support and training classes were
provided by GEM & Associates and grew to serve the entire region. GEM &
Associates rapidly grew to provide programming support, system design, and
equipment sales along with training, and by the end of 1988, had moved to its
own facility.
In 1989, Novadyne Computer Systems
became the US distributor for McDonnell Douglas International Computer Systems,
Sun Microsystems, and the Motorola Computer Group, and this formation played an
important role in the growth of GEM & Associates. GEM & Associates had
written and designed several applications by this time and became a VAR (Valued
Added Reseller) for Novadyne.
GEM & Associates' first
application was written for the Greater Dallas Chamber's Convention and Housing
Bureau. The Convention Housing System managed conventions and
coordinated the huge volume of requests for hotel accommodations made by
convention delegates. Another application, GEM-Mix, supported the
management of the ready mix/aggregate business. These projects, along with
software support services provided a solid client base. Other
developed applications are, GEM Label Printer,
which addresses product costing issues unique to the commercial label printing
segment of the printing industry, the Subscriber Billing System for
prepay telephone service providers, theProfessional Billing System for
the service business. simPLE Football Scout was developed to help High
School football programs.
In 1991, GEM & Associates
incorporated and became InActSys, Inc. (INtegration & ACTivation of
SYStems). In the same year, InActSys signed an agreement with Novadyne
Computer Systems to become the Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana dealer
supplying hardware and software products and support to businesses with systems
utilizing the PICK and UNIX operating systems. In 1994, InActSys, Inc. became a
valued added reseller for APPGEN® Business Software. APPGEN® operates
on various UNIX, Linux, MAC and Windows platforms, which uses a powerful 4GL
language with its own relational database (RDBMS). InActSys also began seller
AcerAltos servers with the powerful SCO OpenServer operating system. Many of
our older clients, with their legacy applications, are being rehosted, using
IBM/Informix/Ardent's uniVerse- RDBMS on the new Intel® servers.
Today, InActSys supports
APPGEN Vars and clients, as well as, develops
applications using the Appgen Development Tools. . |
